From the time he could crawl, little Scott (Scotty) Sunderland was stealing. He had a natural habit of taking things from others. Growing up in the Great Outback of Australia in a dusty little town, Scott wanted to see the world, but most importantly - the sea.

After accumulating an enormous criminal record in his youth, he was given the option to join the Australian Navy. There, he signed up on submarines and quickly learned a sailors life was for him...with a little larceny to go with it. It didn't take a year before he was charged with capital crimes and sentenced to life imprisonment in Australia. Before he could be tried and convicted however, he escaped with three others whom he'd made his 'crew mates in crime'.  Together, they took off to hide in an island nation of what was once Saint Helena and now known as Oceania.

Over the years, Scott found massive support in pirating. Hundreds of souls opted to join his new "Maritime Marauders" crew (reformed from an old, yet feared, pirate group once known (see Maritime Marauders history)). With access to amazing vessels, subs, technology and even teleportation tech, 'Captain Akula', as he now calls himself, began a new life of piracy, but not just on the high seas; harbors, lakes and even rivers were now fully accessible to him through his teleport technology.

Today, after years of raiding, pillaging, looting and making off with an incredible booty of riches, ships, subs and vessels, Captain Akula stills stays the course of continuing his attacks against anyone and anything on or near the water. He's even taken on the Atlantic Kingdom and started a 'war' with them, to which even the Atlantic Kingdom seems ill-equipped to counter. His sister, Sarah, however, has been arrested by the Australian government just for being kin to Scott. Scott swore he'd get her freed one day, but that was years ago; years that she has languished away in a run-down old women's prison deep into Outback territory.

Captain Akula is a dashing, energetic and brazen figure of a man. He is tactically brilliant and can sniff out a setup or a trap long before it can be enacted upon him or his marauders.  His is quick in wit, not shy with the ladies and enjoys his 'after raid' parties with his crew.  He always evenly distributes the stolen wealth of each raid amongst the crew members that participated in the raid(s), and as such is considered a fair captain. He does have a bit of chivalry in him, but not so much as to deter his from his raiding.  He is notorious for his escapes and even more notorious for knowing what and where to attack, even secretive sites and ships. 

 

All in all, Captain Akula is the very model of a modern day pirate king.
