History
Nathan Quincy Chatham was the son of a weapons manufacturer CEO of the family's business, Chatham Weapons (which would eventually become Guardian Weapons Manufacturing) based out of Danbury, Connecticut. He was initially educated at the New Canaan Country School and was easily accepted to Harvard University, earning a Master Degree in Business with a minor in Engineering Design. In 1995, his father died and Nathan had to take over the family business. With a major recession in play, Chatham Weapons went bankrupt nearly overnight. Thankfully, due to some unique designs Nathan and several engineers had devised, they were able to sell their weapons designs to G.U.A.R.D., thus saving the company from ruin.

In 2000, the Soltan Star empire invaded Earth. Chatham Weapons' manufacturing plants and warehouses were obliterated in the first attack wave of the Soltans. Nathan and his engineers cobbled whatever the could from the debris and manually, hand-by-hand, rebuilt about 20% of the weapons that had been destroyed in the attack, giving the weapons to any and all freedom fighters fighting against the Soltans. Nathan became an executive officer for one such self-proclaimed rebel faction called the "Danbury Militia". There, Nathan and a handful of his ex-employees as well as dozens of other rebel fighters, took out hundreds of Soltan troops, but not without losing over 70% of their militia ranks over time.

In one such raid, Nathan's eyes were damaged from a blinding energy explosion, burning out nearly 70% of his normal vision. He learned to fix things while practically blind for the rest of the Soltan Invasion until finally, the combined forces of Earth's heroes and militaries chased the Soltans off Earth several months after they'd arrived. Although a major war was won, the Chatham Weapons business and its CEO, Nathan, were nearly destitute. Enter GUARD once again.

GUARD needed to re-weapon their entire worldwide arsenal, and through several businesses, they were able to start that after the Soltan Invasion. This included a loan for millions of dollars to Chatham Weapons to rebuild and pay back the loan through weapons sales over the next 10 years. With that, Nathan renamed the company to Guardian Weapons Manufacturing (so as to separate family wealth from business wealth) and exploded with new designs, weapons, armor and equipment, making them one of the top 10 manufacturing businesses in America by 2008.

By 2008, Nathan had experimental eye surgery, replacing his eyes with new electronic eyes. They were very powerful, being able to be used for microscopic, telescopic, digital enhancements and even the early version of Wi-Fi cloud data streaming and recording. His new eyes also allowed him night vision, infra red vision and electromagnetic wave/frequency detection. As such, his innovations allowed for electronic eye replacements in the medical field to soar (all of which only provided standard vision, and not all the additional features he had in his own new eyes).

By 2008, Nathan also had a growing family. He married his wife, Michelle, in 1999 prior to the Soltan Invasion. She was pregnant with their son, Chase, throughout the invasion, giving birth to him mere days after the Soltans retreated from Earth. Their daughter, Clarise, was born in 2004. They were a happy, wealthy family, all of which however was belayed by the extreme hours Nathan had to put in at work. As such, Michelle took care of nearly everything related to the family's needs. All that ended on Christmas Eve of 2008.

While doing some last minute shopping for Nathan, Michelle, who was 6 months pregnant with their 3rd child, was robbed, raped and stabbed in a back alley in Danbury, Connecticut. She laid paralyzed in the frozen, muck-encrusted alley for hours trying to stay alive to save her baby, but it wasn't until the next morning's light, many hours later, that a homeless man found her and called for help.

Michelle died on the way to the hospital. Her unnamed baby died with her.

Nathan was devastated over the loss of Michelle. He went into a deep depression and closed himself off from the world, going so far as to not even attending her funeral. The children's nanny took custody of the children and through legal actions, ensured that trust funds from the family's finances ensured and continued their education and forthwith access to the family's wealth and estate. Nathan moved into an apartment adjacent to his office at Guardian Weapons and almost drank himself to death there. His business partners took over the executive decisions, but never once removed Nathan from his position as CEO. During this time, he constantly called the Danbury Police detectives demanding a status on finding the man responsible for his wife's death. At one point, the assailant was determined to be a Bruce Nikolaus, a man wanted in three states for robbery, assault, rape and illegal possession of a firearm. When Nathan pressed for where he could find Nikolaus, the police denied him the information simply stating to 'let the police do their job'. Nathan wouldn't have it.

Nathan cobbled together a series of body armor, gauntlets, boot jets, tactical helmet and two energy blasters and in an unfit mental state, went to the police station that night, broke in and stole the files on Nikolaus' whereabouts. Nathan went hunting for Nikolaus and found him hours later at a truck stop off of I-91 in Hartford, Connecticut. There, Nathan, equipped, armored and armed, walked from his vehicle and went around to the back of the truck stop, finding Nicklaus once again mugging a truck stop waitress, moments from raping her.

Nathan shot Nikolaus in the head with his energy gauntlet at full power, splattering Niklaus' brains all over the area.

The woman profusely thanked Nathan, however, Nathan simply turned and walked back to his car. The woman contacted the police and the Hartford Courant newspaper and mentioned the brave action of who later was called "The Hartford Vigilante". She didn't get a good look at Nathan, nor did any security cameras get anything other than shadowy images of Nathan and his suit's outline, and thus was never facially identified. Nathan instead drove back to Danbury, Connecticut, took off his costume and weapons and went back home to tearfully hug his children and finally begin his mourning process.

Over the next few weeks, Nathan took a more active role in his family's affairs and starting spending more time with his kids, so much so that he removed himself as CEO of Guardian Weapons and simply became an 'owner' vice an executive. Nathan placed his children in the best private schools and ensured that his family was well taken care of with updated wills, powers of attorney and robust trust funds for his children and those who helped him through his grief and in the Soltan Invasion. During that same time, however, Nathan discovered he liked taking charge of things; he like stopping violent crime. He liked making others pay for their heinous deeds. He liked being an embodiment of justice.

Nathan spent the next while perfecting his makeshift costume he used as the "Harford Vigilante". He went to the gun club and worked on his marksmanship. He got a private personal trainer to teach him martial arts and how to fight. By 2010, Nathan was a lean, trim fighting machine with a powerful costume of weapons, gadgets and armor. Naming himself "Captain Connecticut", he began going out at night and foiling crimes all over the state, predominantly New Haven, Bridgeport and Danbury. He didn't kill anyone, but he did rough them up. He always called for the police and an ambulance to treat the criminals, but made sure to warn each criminal that he was providing a 'mercy' and that any second encounter with him would bear 'no mercy'. As such, crime dropped to record levels in 2010.

The Connecticut State Police were ordered by the state governor to track and arrest Captain Connecticut, but the state police feigned any attempts otherwise. Nathan still spent his days and afternoons with his kids but used the late nights and early mornings on the prowl, getting sleep while the kids were in school. His business was thriving and as such, new weapons and designs came to his attention on a routine basis, thus allowing him to upgrade his costume and equipment.

Not too long after this, a terrorist organization calling itself the United Canadian Empire, led by a brilliant madman calling himself Emperor North, set in motion a plan to take over New England and make it a new nation called 'New Canada', all under the duress of secretly planted nuclear bombs in hidden locations all about New England that would be remotely detonated if their demands weren't met. After Nathan sent his children off with a friend to stay in an upscale nuclear bomb shelter on his friend's private property, Nathan donned his costume and went to his garage to get his car only to find another costumed man standing there. That man was called 'The Minuteman'.

The Minuteman was labeled (also) as a vigilante and wanted by the state and federal authorities for numerous reasons. Minuteman explained to Nathan that he'd known for weeks who Captain Connecticut was and knew that Nathan was a good man deep down. He needed that man that night to save New England from either becoming New Canada or a series of nuclear craters. Nathan reluctantly agreed to aid The Minuteman.

In a legendary story of teamwork, sacrifice and heroism (all told on the Yankee Minuteman page), Captain Connecticut and his new teammates that now became the "Yankee Minutemen" immediately became celebrities and heroes of New England and the world. All charges against Captain Connecticut (as well and other members of the group) were dropped and Nathan and the rest of his teammates became overnight beacons of heroism and justice. This, however, didn't stop Nathan from still fighting street-level crime in Connecticut. Ironically, it wasn't as Captain Connecticut that he'd met his death, but just simply as Nathan Chatham.

On Christmas Eve, 2015, while performing last minute shopping at a mom-and-pop store in downtown Danbury (mere blocks from where his wife was attacked), Nathan was shot with six bullets by a street-level crook so that he could steal Nathan's wallet to go buy a pair of high-end sneakers for himself for Christmas.
Nathan died on the sidewalk within seconds of being shot.

Nathan's death created a ripple in the state. The governor immediately condoned the killer, but instead of associative action, the governor set up a 'free sneakers' platform to ensure people didn't get killed anymore for high-end sneakers. The police went on a tear, beating homeless vagrants, breaking into homes of criminals with multiple convictions, breaking many civil rights laws in the process. The Minuteman was the one who actually tracked down the killer and turned him over to the police, under protection from any form of police brutality. Eventually, Minuteman was able to calm everyone down and bring some order to the chaos. Minuteman wanted with every fiber of his being to tell everyone who Captain Connecticut was so that Nathan could get the recognition he'd deserved, but Minuteman knew that it would not end well for Nathan's family, and eventually drag Nathan's children into a social justice pit of hell that would destroy their own futures. As such, Minuteman set up surveillance equipment to keep an eye on the Chatham siblings to ensure their safety. No one (except Minuteman) knew of Nathan's secret identity as Captain Connecticut...until his son Chase found him dad's secret room with all his Captain Connecticut gear years later.

Today, Captain Connecticut is back on the prowl but with Nathan's son, Chase, wearing the costume...and learning the hard way how hard it is to be a hero See Captain Connecticut II).

Nathan Chatham AKA Captain Connecticut I (father, deceased)
Michelle Chatham (mother, deceased)
Clarise Chatham (sister)
History
Chase Chatham is the 2nd person to be Captain Connecticut; the first was his father, Nathan, who tragically died after being shot on Christmas Eve in 2015.

Chase was born days after the invading Soltan Star Empire retreated from Earth in August of 2000. His mother Michelle, and father Nathan, were once wealthy weapons industrialists, however the invasion decimated the business. Thanks to fate and some good business opportunities with G.U.A.R.D., Chase's father was able to rebuild the Chatham Weapons business as the new Guardian Weapons Manufacturing business. Sadly, on Christmas morning of 2008, Chase's mother died after being assaulted in an alley and stabbed the night before.

Chase's father went into a dark place, leaving Chase and his younger sister Clarise to be taken care of by their Nanny for the next short while. Months later, their father told them the person who killed their mother was 'brought to justice' (eventually finding out their mother's killer was actually executed). After that, Chase's father became the best father in the world. Still, without a mother, things were difficult for both Chase and Clarise. Chase was still a bit upset at losing his mother and had a hard time emotionally. As such Chase's father introduced Chase to Karate; there, Chase learned to focus, control his emotions and learned how to fight and defend himself as well. Chase even earned his first degree black belt by the age of 15, an incredible feat for any young man at that time.
Although the father would spend every waking moment with Chase and Clarise, it became apparent that the father was out at night and late into the mornings, sometimes coming home smelling like sweat, garbage and blood. When asked about this, the father said he simply has a 'unique' workout regimen he does in the evening and early mornings to stay fit. For the next few years, that answer sufficed...until Christmas Eve of 2015 when everything changed for Chase and Clarise once again.

On Christmas morning of 2015, rather than happily opening presents under their beautiful Christmas tree (and saying a silent prayer for their mother who died that day years before), they were at a busy Danbury, Connecticut police station, with Chase having to identify the dead body in the morgue as his father. Chase's father was shot and killed by a crook who stole his father's wallet so as to buy new high-end sneakers for himself for Christmas. Now, without a mother and a father, Chase was left to be the man in charge of the Chatham empire and estate.

For the next 2 years, every relative hiding under a rock legally challenged all the wills and powers of attorneys that allowed Chase to be the true benefactor of the Chatham estate. Several people were also cited in the will (fellow employees and friends, all of whom he gave $1 million to each for the sacrifices they made to Chase's father and the family), however, Chase's portion of the will was deemed as 'invalid' since Chase wasn't 18 yet. As such, Chase and Clarise had to be moved out of the family mansion and were instead placed in the care of their old Nanny (who volunteered to take them in until the legal wrangling was complete), who took care of them as if they were her own children. Sadly, Chase became angry and irritated at his family's 'legal leeches' (as well as the despair over his father's untimely and cruel death) and started acting out, getting drunk, partying with the wrong crowd...even doing drugs.

One night, Chase, in a drunken stupor, made his way into the old family manor and into his father's study, where he remembered his father spent a lot of time in. Initially, Chase went looking for hidden alcohol bottles, but instead found something more interesting: a secret room.

In the secret room, Chase found a massive lab loaded with high tech equipment, monitoring systems, weapons, armoring and...five versions of the Captain Connecticut superhero suit. Chase thumbed through some books, notes and computer files, easily determining what he'd had no idea of before: his father was truly the superhero, Captain Connecticut.

Chase, still in a bit of a drunken state, attempted to leave the secret room (it was way too much for him to process at that time in his state), when a shadowy figure filled the secret doorway in front of him. It was another superhero from Captain Connecticut's team, the Yankee Minutemen...it was the team's leader, the Minuteman, himself.

Minuteman quickly subdued Chase and asked what he was doing in there. Chase fought with Minuteman, even so far as striking Minuteman with a well-placed karate kick to the face, knocking Minuteman to the ground as a result. Minuteman quickly got back up and subdued Chase again. Chase shouted at Minuteman demanding to know if it was true that his father was actually Captain Connecticut. Minuteman simply stated 'yes'.

Chase went into a torrid of emotional outbursts, throwing things around, demanding why his father had to die, why didn't anyone tell the world his father was a hero; why didn't any superhero at least try and save his father's life...all to which Minuteman could only respond with silence.

Chase eventually exhausted himself and passed out, crying on Minuteman's shoulder.

When Chase awoke in his bed at his old Nanny's residence the next morning, he found a metal device in his hand; it was a Yankee Minuteman signaling device. A yellow sticky note was attached to it stating 'press this when you are ready to talk sober. Come alone. Go to a place you know is safe for us to talk' ending with a large "M" for Minuteman. For the next two days, Chase sobered up and did a bit of introspection and contemplation. Chase now realized his father WAS a superhero, and that alone was unparalleled in the super-cool department of having a dad. Realizing that his own reactions of late were childish and ignorant, Chase came to the conclusion that he had a legacy to live up to now. On the night of the 2nd day, he drove to a remote bluff out by the ocean's edge out in Mystic, Connecticut where a family friend always allowed him and his sister to visit anytime. Once there, Chase pressed the Yankee Minuteman signaling device and waited. Hours later, Minuteman showed up in a flyer jet.

For the next several hours, Minuteman told the stories of his father's actions and heroism, the despair over the loss of Chase's mother, and the rededication he did towards being a better father for Chase and Clarise. He also told of how Minuteman himself caught the man that killed Chase's father and that it took every fiber of his being not to kill that murderer, realizing the original Captain Connecticut, Chase's father, wouldn't want Minuteman to have to answer for murder to simply avenge his death.

Chase and Minuteman met on several other occasions at different locations. Finally, Chase requested to be trained by Minuteman to be the next Captain Connecticut. Initially Minuteman warned Chase of the heartache and pain of what it was to live that lifestyle and the dangers it might pose to Clarise if his identity was ever discovered by his enemies, but Minuteman knew Chase wouldn't change his mind. As such, Chase began his training that very night.

For the next two years, Chase trained and trained. It was difficult, but he eventually got proficient at how to use the suit and the weapons as well as how to basically fight. Chase even threw in some modifications to the suit, improving its capabilities. All the while, as part of the deal with Minuteman, Chase still had to go to college, to which Chase chose to study Environmental Engineering so that one day, he'd be able to start his own business in green energy engineering systems and designs. During this time, thanks to the Chatham family's lawyers, Chase finally turned 18 and was bequeathed the Chatham fortune and estate...all $130 million worth. He immediately sold his shares in Guardian Weapons Manufacturing and instead invested the profits from that into the stock market and several other charities, still leaving Chase and Clarise with nearly $380 million to which, on the Clarise's 25th birthday, they'd evenly split the estate or have the option of keeping it together for the foreseeable future if they so agreed to do so.

Since then, Chase has moved back into the family mansion (and expanded on his father's secret room/lab). He has a good estate staff, a driver, a pilot, a plane, a couple of speedboats and a chalet in France. Clarise is gearing up for college, with expectations of going to Brown University. She has her own room in the east wing of the mansion, and since the two are always busy and out-and-about, they rarely see each other...except for an agreeance for one Tuesday night each month and of course once a year - on Christmas day, where they both pay their respects to their parents and open their Christmas gifts graveside with their parents.

Today, Chase, as Captain Connecticut II, has been on the prowl throughout Connecticut or alongside his new teammates, the Yankee Minutemen, truly learning and applying how to be a superhero. He has a LONG way to go and still a lot to learn. His adventures have only just begun...
