A veteran and hero of the Soltan Invasion (2020), US Army Lieutenant (at the time) Ben Patrick became a US patriotic folk hero.  The media made him out to be the next coming of Audie Murphy. That's when Patrick decided to take advantage of his new fame.

After the Soltan Invasion, the United States was embroiled in civil rights issues, constitutional deprecation, and a militarized police force.  Crime bosses, supervillain groups and corrupt politicians ruled the nation's leadership.  As a result, 'Major' Patrick, at the time, submitted his resignation from the US Army and founded the Military Order of Patriots. His paramilitary operation went on a massive recruiting spree, bringing in nearly a thousands 'patriotic troopers'.  Within months, this well-armed, empowered band of militants went on a 'clean-up America' spree against crime and subversive criminal gangs.  Patrick, now considering himself as a 'General' now and his new militant vigilantes became overnight heroes, bringing crime down and taking out murderers, rapists and drug dealers.

As with any hero, they eventually become a villain once they overstepped their bounds.

In several raids his troops did, literally led in person by General Patrick, innocent bystanders and even children were killed in crossfires. The General and the MOP quickly became targets of lawyers and regular law enforcement, leading to to armed conflicts and the death of some police officers in an indictment standoff.  The authorities engaged superhero teams and GUARD to stop General Patrick and MOP.  Within weeks, over 80% of the nation's MOP troopers were caught or killed and the MOP listed as a 'domestic terrorist organization'.  General Patrick and dozens of other went underground...until recently.

As the supervillain activity started increasing, some superheroes were found killed or nearly dead - but were either avenged or saved by General Patrick and the newer, smaller band of troopers of the MOP.

Most of American society immediately started re-supporting General Patrick and MOP, however, the federal government still had them considered terrorists.  On unique occasions, in unique locations anywhere around the USA or the world, General Patrick and his new troopers of MOP showed up and resumed they actions in 'cleaning up America'.  Sadly, the same situations occurred again - the death of innocents caught in the crossfire of the MOP's weapons and actions.

 

Today, General Patrick still leads the MOP from one of a dozen remote secret bases across the United States. It is believed he uses teleporter technology to get where he wants him and his troops to go.  He and his troopers are still combatting 'the broken political and social state' of the United States. They are known to show up to defend superheroes, cops, military units, etc but they have also raided gun manufacturing businesses, stores and military hardware suppliers and businesses to get what equipment and weapons they want...including things such as food to feed themselves and their supporters.  It is believed there are over a dozen cells of 50-60 troops in each cell sequestered away in hidden locations, as well as hundreds of supporters helping the MOP with money, supplies and lodging.

 

General Patrick is a smart, tactical-thinking militant leader who believes the ends justify the means. He wants to 'bring America back' to its previous 'decency' and ensure any criminals, murderers and/or villains get tried in the MOP Court and sentenced to death by firing squad.
